Our son, a graduating senior who will be studying music engineering in college, has worked at GAM since he was in fourth grade. From the start, Brandon’s relaxed, yet professional, approach perfectly suited him. Brandon taught him not only how to play complicated songs, but theory, composition, ear training, and recording. When it came time for his NT senior project, he collaborated with Brandon to produce original tracks in the GAM studio. We cannot thank Brandon and Carlos for their influence on our son’s growth as a musician! They are truly the best teachers and musicians you will find!

My son has been taking guitar from Brandon at Glencoe Academy of Music for 4 years now and still loves it! My son is reading music and playing songs from main street pop/rock to flamenco. Most of all Brandon creates a relaxed, professional environment that is conducive to successful learning. We highly recommend him and the Glencoe Academy of Music!

I love this place.
They have a several highly qualified professionals for everything you could want to learn....

The atmosphere is like a music studio.
I see kids, teens and adults walking in and out here. All levels taught; from absolute first timers to seasoned players.
Great North Shore location.....steps from Metra station!!

I recently finished my first year of guitar lessons with Carlos at Glencoe Academy of Music and cannot say enough wonderful things about my experience. Carlos really understood what I was looking to learn as a new musician. I have a new-found passion and I’m grateful to GAM and Carlos for helping to get me started. I would highly recommend GAM!

This place is like a second home to my family! My teenage son has been taking guitar from Matt for 6 years, and I’ve been working with Carlos for 3 years. Not only is Carlos insanely talented, but he’s a genuinely kind and caring person, with a passion for music that is contagious! He works so hard to put together his students to form musical groups, so they can find even more enjoyment beyond taking music lessons. I highly recommend the Glencoe Academy of Music for all ages and musical interests!

We learn new songs every week of my preference and are able to perform in recitals and do duets. I have learned so much from Carlos like how to project my voice and all these strumming and fingerpicking patterns.

I can’t recommend the Glencoe Academy of Music highly enough. I have been taking guitar lessons with Carlos for a few years now and he does a great job of providing a serious musical education while still making it a lot of fun. He is great with adults and, as I have seen first hand with my son’s lessons, he is also great with kids. If you have ever considered taking lessons or are considering getting lessons for your child, definitely give the Glencoe Academy of Music a call!

We are so fortunate to have this school in our town. Carlos and his incredibly talented staff have created a exceptional, nurturing environment for music students of all ages. Both of my children are delighted to take lessons with Matt, and Carlos personally mentors my adult rock band with unqualified devotion. Carlos and Matt are passionate about music and education, and both are completely committed to providing an extraordinary learning experience.

I have had a great experience playing guitar at Glencoe Academy of Music. I take one-on-one lessons with my teacher Brandon. He helps me become a better guitar player by teaching me how to finger pick. He builds up my confidence by giving helpful advice on singing while playing. As well as individual lessons, I take a lesson with one of my friends. Carlos, another guitar instructor, works with us as a duet. He is really good at making sure we both can participate in recitals and many other fun opportunities together. Overall, I have loved my time playing guitar at Glencoe Academy of Music.

If you are interested in picking up a new hobby or just getting back to playing something you used to years ago, Glencoe School of Music is the place to be. It brings downtown and area musicians to the North Shore. Carlos and his staff are amazing, talented and fun people who know how to motivate the young and the old! Situated in the middle of downtown Glencoe, next to Foodstuffs, the studio is easy to get to and has plenty of parking with a public lot right behind the building. If you are thinking of taking up an instrument or want to work on your karaoke skills (seriously Kay Rutherford is an amazing vocal instructor), GAM is the place to go. All the instructors are performers in their own right and have the skills, patience and knowledge to make you a better performer!

Carlos and his staff are amazing - they are really such talented musicians and are fantastic with the kids and make the process of becoming a musician fun. My son has loved every moment there and has such a respect for Carlos as his instructor. The location is really great and there is something going on all year long!!!! You will not regret your decision to put your child there to learn and grow!!

I sent my 8 year old to a Glee Camp at Bach to Rock with friends on a day off from school last spring. All the kids came out smiling from ear to ear saying they wanted to take singing lessons. But my own spirited daughter said forget singing...she saw a drum set at Bach to Rock and thought that looked way more fun. She’s asking for a new activity every few weeks so I tend to ignore her requests until she asks at least a dozen times...and she kept asking. Finally I agreed to drum lessons if she went to Glencoe Academy of Music since it’s so close to my house. I’m all about the least amount of driving possible being a busy working mom of 3 kids. She agreed and I sent an email to Glencoe Music Academy asking for info...and very quickly heard back from Brandon who got us scheduled with Mark.Glencoe Music Academy may be convenient, but the lessons would be well worth it even if we had to drive there. Mark is patient, fun and my daughter comes out with a huge smile every week. To be honest I thought drumming was just making a lot of banging noise, but I’ve been really surprised (and pleased) with how much coordination is involved w/ playing the drums...and it’s been fun to see her make progress. She also has a bunch of friends who take guitar lessons with Carlos and are very pleased as well. The lessons themselves are pretty expensive, but I think that’s to be expected when it comes to private music lessons. I haven’t agreed to an expensive (and loud!) drum set quite yet, but Mark has offered a few times that he can come with us to the store to help us pick one out when/if the time comes. In the meantime, I’m happy with her playing on her little amazon pad to keep the noise down a bit in my house.
